Knee Conditions

The knee carries your body weight through every step, so it is the joint patients bring us most. Pain here can come from cartilage that has worn thin, a tear in the meniscus that catches when you turn, or arthritis that stiffens the joint overnight and eases once you get moving.

Knee pain is also one of the most common reasons patients are told surgery is the only option. It often is not - and when a knee replacement has already been done and the pain remains, that is its own condition worth a second look.

  • Knee Arthritis
  • Knee Pain
  • Meniscus Tear (Torn Knee Cartilage)

Shoulder Conditions

The shoulder trades stability for range of motion, which is what makes it so easy to injure. Most shoulder pain we see traces to the rotator cuff or the labrum - the soft tissue that holds the joint together and keeps it centred.

The tell is usually functional rather than sharp: you stop reaching overhead, you stop sleeping on that side, and you quietly work around the shoulder until the range of motion is gone.

  • Rotator Cuff Tear
  • Shoulder Labrum Tear

Hip & Pelvis Conditions

Hip and pelvic pain is frequently mistaken for a back problem, and back problems are frequently mistaken for hip pain. The two sit close together and refer pain into the same places - the groin, the buttock, the outside of the thigh.

That overlap is exactly why the diagnosis matters here. Treating a hip that is not the source, or a back that is not the source, is the most common reason this pain goes unresolved for years.

Conditions in this group
  • Hip Arthritis
  • Hip Impingement (FAI)
  • Piriformis Syndrome (Deep Buttock Pain)

Elbow, Foot & Ankle Conditions

These are the overuse injuries - tendons at the elbow, heel, and ankle that have been asked to do the same motion a few thousand times too many. They rarely start with a single injury, which is why patients often cannot name the day the pain began.

Despite the names, you do not need to play tennis or golf to get either kind of elbow pain. A trade, a keyboard, or a weekend project will do it.

Conditions in this group
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Golfer's Elbow
  • Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain)

Conditions That Affect Any Joint

Some conditions are not tied to one joint at all. Arthritis, tendon inflammation, and muscle injury can surface anywhere the body bends, and inflammatory disease can affect several joints at once.

When pain moves between joints, appears on both sides of the body, or comes with swelling and morning stiffness, it usually points to something systemic rather than a single worn-out joint - and it is worth investigating as such.

Conditions in this group
  • Osteoarthritis (Wear-and-Tear Arthritis)
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Joint Strains & Sprains
  • Muscle Spasm
  • Costochondritis (Chest Wall Pain)

I have been an IPA patient for many years receiving the very best medical care. The clinic's atmosphere is warm and the staff is very friendly and provides the absolute best customer service. On a scale of 1 to 10 I rate Integrated Pain Associates a high 9 as perfection is only relegated to the Almighty. Thank you IPA; continue to serve us well.

I have been coming here since 2015. The staff and the doctors have always been helpful and concerned about my pain. Whether it required medication, a procedure, or device implant my pain was controlled to and I was able to carry on with my daily routines. I have recommended this facility to friends and family who were also pleased with the results of their pain management.

I would like to thank all the staff in their surgery departments and the routine clinic areas. They have always handled any emergency or unusual situation that has happened unexpectedly with treating my husband. They make it a point to answer your questions and I love that. A really great group of friendly people with wonderful attitudes, considering that daily they are dealing with unhappy people who are in pain. Not easy to do. Keep smiling IPA😁
