What sets it apart from other implanted therapies is that you get to test it before you commit. During the trial the leads sit outside the body and can simply be removed, so a week of ordinary life - work, sleep, the drive to the store - answers the question no consultation can. If the trial does not convince you, we do not implant. Afterward the device is reprogrammable as your pain changes, and it can be taken out if it stops earning its place.

The judgment about whether you need it matters more than the technique. Instability has to be shown to be the actual pain generator - through imaging and diagnostic blocks - and conservative care has to have been given a real trial, not a token one. Plenty of people arrive expecting fusion and leave with a different plan. We will tell you plainly if we do not think you need it.

What they share is a mechanical target: a spinal canal too crowded for the nerves running through it, a vertebra collapsed by a fracture, or an endplate that has become a pain source in its own right. That makes them a fit for patients who need genuine structural relief but are not candidates for open spine surgery, or would rather not go down that road. Which procedure applies depends on what your imaging and earlier response have already shown.
Treatments we may useAn implanted pump that delivers pain medication directly to the spinal fluid, so a much smaller dose does more - with fewer of the side effects that come with oral medication.
The reason a smaller dose works is that the medication no longer has to travel through the digestive system and bloodstream to reach the spine. Most of what people struggle with on oral pain medication - the grogginess, the constipation, the mental fog - comes from the dose required to make that journey. As with our other implanted therapies you trial the pump before committing, and it is refilled, adjusted, and removed as your needs change.

Great service...I have recommend IPA to several veterans and friends. I miss my previous doctor but my current doctor (Puri) is excellent. He treat my 91 yr old dad too. Melanie (NP) treat my wife and me she is awesome.. MS Karisha is the best receptionist they had in awhile. She has trained the other young ladies and they provide great customer service. Everyone here has always been thoughtful of my pain, listened carefully on what hurts, where and how. Even when very rarely a procedure has gone wrong made things right and kept me in the loop on the decision process. I've been cooking here for 8 years and will continue for the foreseeable future. I've two spinal cord stimulator implants and two peripheral implants helping keep the excruciating pain as best as possible to tolerable levels. I've considerable damage due to two major accidents, a dozen collapsed disc, fusions and nerve damage and they've kept this train wreck rolling lol.
